1986 NCAA DIII Final Championship: Salem State College vs Bishop College1986-03-15Three-time All American guard, and New England Player of the Year Evelyn Oquendo, lead Salem State College past Bishop College of Dallas, Texas, 89-85 to win NCAA Division III title March 15, 1986 at the O'Keefe Center at SSC in Salem, MA. Salem State finished with a program best 29-1 record. The Vikings overcame an early 12-point deficit to earn the school's first national championship. Mary Dee Brown, National Championship team captain and Kodak All American, is named Salem State's first CoSida Academic All American.
