dc.description.abstract | The Jacob C. Rogers house was known for its beautiful gardens, and especially for its big lotus pond, which boasted many varieties of the Egyptian lotus. There was also an expansive lily pond. Some of Samuel McIntire’s most impressive work was in this house. The estate was also known as “Oak Hill,” a name which was derived from the enormous oak that stood at the entrance to the property. | |
