dc.description.abstract | COIL Assignment Prompt for "Seminar on World Cultures," a Spring 2022 undergraduate Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) course taught by Fátima Serra (World Languages and Cultures) at Salem State University. The SSU course collaborated with a course taught at Universidad de Oviedo in Oviedo, Spain.There were 21 students in the SSU course and 18 students in the partner course. Digital tools used in collaborative work included Zoom, WhatsApp, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Docs, Canva, and YouTube.The assignment was a collaborative and creative reflection exercise. | |

dc.description.course | A variety of cultural artifacts, such as films, songs, literature, media, and/or works of art will be used to explore in depth the diverse historical, political and social forces that have shaped one or more world cultures outside the United States. Students will analyze and think critically about authentic materials and develop intercultural competency. The course will be taught in English and will have three lecture hours per week. This course is open to students in the Commonwealth Honors Program and other students by permission. |
