V002 — Nelson Dionne Collection. View up Brown Street, looking to the east, from the tower of St. Peter's Church on Church Street. The Andrew-Safford House is visible in the distance to the center, along with the Franklin Building to the right-center (now the site of the Hawthorne Hotel). The title, "View From Top of Hose Tower," is a mislabeling on the card itself, as seen on the backside, in reference to the firehouse farther west on Church Street. Published by John P. Titlon, "bookseller and stationer," at 220 Essex Street in "Views of Salem, Mass. and Vicinity," c. 1874-78. View is the same as SV001, published under Peabody & Tilton.
