The tunnel can be seen through to its other end near Essex Street. Above on Washington Street, the Tabernacle Church is visible to the right, while a glimpse of the Hooper-Hathaway House is visible on the far left of the window. Published "expressly for" Guy & Bros., 163 Essex Street, ostensibly by Cook & Friend, "landscape photographers," c. 1870.
