dc.description.abstract | SV021 — Nelson Dionne Collection. View of the (extant) John F. Brooks House at 115 Lafayette Street (now 249 Lafayette Street due to street renumbering), looking northeast from across the street. A woman, girl, and baby carriage are visible in front of the house on the sidewalk. Published by J.W. & J.S. Moulton, Salem, Mass., in what appears to be "[Sal]em Series, American Scenery," c. 1873-81. The house is now occupied by Garber Family Dentistry. Located at the edge of the fire map, the house seems to have narrowly escaped being engulfed by the Great Fire of 1914, which apparently demolished the home visible to the left. | |
