      Fourteen-year-old Salem High School student Marie Rose LaCombe was murdered in November 1944. Her body was found behind the Salem High School adjacent to the football field. Frank Symanowicz was accused of the murder but died by suicide in a lodging house at 134 Bridge Street in Salem, prior to being charged.
