View of the lawn and non-extant main house at Kernwood (mislabeled as "Kenwood" on the card), the estate of the Peabody family in North Salem, with a garden arrangement prominently displayed to the right. The estate was sold to become the Kernwood Country Club in 1914, and the Gothic mansion was razed in the mid-1950s in order to construct the current clubhouse. Published by American Scenery Co. as part of "Boston and Vicinity," c. 1873-81. View is the same as SV143.
